Pattern of Disharmony
Acupuncture draws together all the diverse signs and symptoms of ill health to form a basic “pattern of disharmony”. This pattern will include the mental/emotional state as much as physical symptoms.
These signs and symptoms are not regarded as problems in themselves to be 'eliminated', but as warning signs, pointers to Imbalance in the patient.
These Imbalances can he corrected by inserting fine needles into specific acupuncture points on relevant meridians.
Acupuncture, then, stimulates the body's own self-healing powers and as there is a return to normal, the symptoms disappear of their own accord.
Nothing can ever replace the patient's own el Torts to discover and remedy the causes of their illness. Acupuncture doesn't deny patient responsibility nor is it, a panacea for all ills.
But until we learn to live wisely, of our own accord, there is a need for helpers to point the way and for systems of medicine that help to restore the balance, without upsetting it.
Acupuncture is grounded in the theory of traditional Chinese medicine with its practical and subtle understanding of health. With health understood, disease is put in context-health must be restored, rather than disease removed.
