People who are suspected of having swine influenza should stay home from work and not go into the community until the infectious period is over.

Recall that the infectious period is seven days after the onset of symptoms or 24 hours after symptoms resolve (whichever is longer).

If it is imperative for an ill person to leave home, he or she should wear a surgical mask to reduce the risk of spreading the disease.
