Sugar Does not Cause Diabetes
Type 1 diabetes happens when your body's immune system destroys the insulin-producing beta-cells in the pancreas.
Factors that may cause the immune system to do this are autoantibodies, cow's milk, genetics, and oxygen-free radicals.
Type 1diabetes is probably triggered by one of these environmental factors in people who have the genes for developing the disease.
Type 2 diabetes is often the result of a combination of factors, including genetics and lifestyle. However, eating sugar, while possibly contributing to weight gain, is not a cause.
