Dog Crochet Coat and Hood

Coat
Starting at tail end with Gold make a chain of stitches having 5 ch to 1 inch.
Next row: Sc in 2 nd ch from hook, * ch 1, skip next ch, sc in next ch. Repeat from* across.

There are on row Sc with ch-1 sps between. Drop Gold, draw Yellow through loop on hook, ch "I, turn. 1st row: Sc in first sc, ch 1, sc in first sp, * ch 1, sc in next sp. Repeat from * across to within last sc, ch 1, sc in last sc. There are 1 more sc and 1 more ch-1 sp than on previous row. Ch 1, turn.

2nd row: Repeat first row. Drop Yellow, draw Gold through loop on hook, ch I, turn. 3rd and 4fh rows: Repeat first and 2nd rows. Drop Gold, draw Yellow through loop on hook, ch 1, turn. Repeat first through 4th row until there are on row Sc

NOTE: Two rows of Gold alternated with two rows of Yellow form the stripe pattern and color is changed in the turning chain of every other row.

At end of last row ch 1, turn. Now work even as follows:
1st row: Sc in first sc, sc in first sp, * ch 1, sc in next sp. Repeat from * across to within last sc, sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn.

2nd row: Sc in first sc, * ch 1, sc in next sp. Repeat from * across to within last 2 sc, ch 1, skip next sc, sc in last sc. There are on row Sc   
Ch 1, turn. Keeping in stripe pattern, repeat last 2 rows until length from starting chain is Inches  ending with 2nd row. There are on row Sc
  
Shoulder  Shaping:  1st and  2nd  rows: 
Sc in first sc, *  ch 1, sc in next sp. Repeat from * across to within last sc, ch 1, sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn.

 3 rd row: Sc in first sc, sc in first sp, * ch 1, sc in next sp. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn.

4th row: Sc in first sc, * ch 1, sc in next sp. Repeat from *  across  to within last 2 sc, ch 1, skip next sc, sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn.

5th through 8th row: Repeat first through 4th row of Shoulder Shaping. There are on last row.-Sc     Ch 1, turn.

9th and 10th rows: Sc in first sp, * ch 1, sc in next sp. Repeat from * across. There are on last row Sc
  
Ch 1, turn. Continuing to shape shoulder edge, shape neck edge at the same time as follows:
 
Next row: Sc in first sp, (ch 1, sc in next sp} Times     
Ch 1, turn. Repeat 9th row of Shoulder Shaping over these sts only until one sc remains. Break off and fasten.

For back of neck, skip next Sc. Attach yarn in next sp, ch 1, sc in same sp, (ch 1, sc in next sp)
Times ch 1, turn and work to correspond with other side.

Hood
With wrong side of last row of back of neck facing and keeping sequence of stripe pattern, attach yarn in last sc made on one shoulder point.

1st row: Ch 1, sc where yarn was attached, * ch 1, skip the end st of next row, sc in end st of following row. Repeat from * along side of neck, ch 1, work in pattern across back of neck sts, work other side of neck to correspond with first side. Mark end st at both sides of this row. Ch 1, turn.

Repeat 3rd and 4th rows of Shoulder Shaping until Hood measures from markers, ending
with 4th row Inches  Ch 1, turn.
Top Shaping: Repeat 9th row of Shoulder Shaping Times in all. Break off and fasten.

Under Piece: Starting at lower edge with Gold, ch
Next row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, * ch 1, skip next ch, sc in next ch. Repeat from * across. There are on row Sc    
Ch 1, turn. Repeat 3rd and 4th rows of Shoulder Shaping until total length is, ending with 4th row inches

Following 2 rows: Repeat 9th row of Shoulder Shaping.
Next 6 rows: Repeat 3rd and 4th rows of Shoulder Shaping alternately 3 times. Repeat last 8 rows  Times
Repeat 3rd and 4th rows of Shoulder Shaping alternately until total length is Inches      
Break off and fasten.

Starting at first row of Hood, sew side edge of Under Piece to Shoulder Shaping on each side of Coat. With Gold work sc evenly along entire outer edges.

Tie (Make 2}   With Gold make a chain 8 inches long; work sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Break off and fasten.
Sew a Tie to edge of Hood 2 inches from top edge of Under Piece. Sew other Tie to correspond.

Belt
With Gold make a chain to measure....Inches    211/2   22 1/2   23 1/2   25 1/2  271/2    291/2  Work same as Under Piece for 4 rows, then with Gold, work sc along entire outer edge.

Slip buckle on one end and fasten. Starting 21/2 inches in from buckle end, sew Belt to lower edge of Under Piece, leaving remainder of Belt free.
