Such pain and inflammation may worsen if plantar fascia ligament is not rested. Repetitive walking stress, jumping, standing or running are some of the other conditions that could aggravate pain and inflammation.

If you do not forbid the aggravating activities completely, after experiencing the onset of condition, this may lead to persisting inflamed condition of ligament.

There are various factors related with occurrence of heel spurs and plantar fasciitis. These factors may affect the way of feet striking ground (gait) which could further lead to additional injury.

Some of the common factors are reduction in flexibility of ankle and foot (biomechanical factor), muscle strength imbalances, Achilles tendon tightness and abnormal foot mechanics. All these factors are outcome of:

Improper training and repetitive sports activities
Wearing worn out shoes
Increase in weight

Prolonged times spent on feet and waling or running steep hills
