Materials (13-5 mm) hook
Brown yarn
Purple fine mohair (for embellishments)
White yarn (for eyes)
Plastic eyes ¼ in. (7 mm) diameter
Orange felt (for beak)

Directions
Body
Make a loop with tail end of yarn on right, keeping ball end on left. Pull the ball end of yarn through loop.

Make one chain through loop on hook you have drawn through to steady the circle. Work 5 sc in to the circle and complete the circle with SI st in to the first sc.

Rnd 1: Sc 2 into each of 5 sc.
Rnd 2: * Sc 1, 2 sc into next sc * five times.
Rnd 3: * Sc 2, 2 sc into next sc * five times.

Rnd 4: * Sc 3, 2 sc into next sc * five times.
Rnds 5-18: Sc 1 all around.
Fasten off.
 
Bottom
Make a circle as before, work 5 sc in to the circle and complete the circle with a SI st in to the first sc.

Rnd 1: Sc2 into each of 5 sc.
Rnd 2: * Sc 1, 2 sc into next sc * five times.
Rnd 3: * Sc 2, 2 sc into next sc * five times.
Rnd 4: * Sc 3, 2 sc into next sc * five times.
Fasten off.

Tummy
Using purple mohair, ch 14.
Row 1: Sc 1 into 6th ch from hook. * Ch 5, skip 3,1 sc into next ch: rep from * to end then turn.
Row 2: * 5 ch, 1 sc into next 5 ch arch. Repeat from * to end then turn. Repeat these 2 rows.

Wings (make two)
Ch5.
Row1: Sc 1 to end.
Row 2: Ch 1, 1 sc to last 2 st, sc2tog.
Row 3: Ch 1,1 sc to end.
Fasten off.

Eyes (make two)
Make a loop as you did for the body, and 5 sc into the circle.

Rnd 1: Sc 2 into each of 5 sc.
Rnd 2: * Sc 1, 2 sc in to next sc * five times, then change the color to purple.
Rnd 3: * Sc2, 2sc* five times. Fasten off.
 
Finishing 
Sew together following the diagram
Features
Sew on the eye patches, and glue on plastic eyes. Sew on the belly pattern. Make a small beak out of orange felt.

Wings
Attach the wings on either side, so that they point backward, like this.
Stuffing
Complete all the features before finishing. Insert stuffing from the base end, then sew base in place
