Gladys Anderson Emerson

Gladys Emerson was born in Caldwell, Kansas in 1903. She was a biochemist, and was the first to succeed in isolating vitamin E in its purest form.

She also studied the role of vitamin B complex deficiencies in diseases such as arteriosclerosis. She also investigated the possible dietary causes of cancer.

She was appointed Professor of Nutrition at the University of California, in Los Angeles, in 1956.
