Minnie Joycelyn Elders

Joycelyn Elders was born n 1933 in Arkansas. She graduated MD form the University of Arkansas in 1960.

She became a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Arkansas in 1974.

In 1987 she was appointed Director for the Arkansas Department of Health and then became the first female Surgeon General in 1993.
