Insulin Therapy
Insulin therapy is also recommended for nursing women, as the insulin does not pass into the breast milk.
Once you have delivered your baby and have stopped nursing, you should be able to discontinue insulin therapy and return to taking your oral medications.
If you are using insulin prior to pregnancy, the amount needed to control your blood sugar will change during and after pregnancy.
For example, you may need less insulin while breastfeeding than you were using before your pregnancy.
