Lovebird Show Standard Includes the Following Criteria
It may seem that the lovebirds at a show are being judged against each other, but they are really being judged against a standard, an ideal lovebird whose qualities the judges look for in the lovebirds being shown. The lovebird show standard includes the following criteria:
Conformation
Beak: Neat and well tucked in; head full and pound; eyes centered, clear and bright.
Neck: full and wide.
Shoulders: no appearance of the neckline.
Breast: deep, broad, and well rounded, tapering gradually to the tail.
Backline: not slack or hollow; almost straight.
Wings: held neatly in line with the body; flights must not droop or cross.
Tail: held neatly in line with body.
Legs and feet: straight and strong, firmly gripping the perch.
Size, color, deportment (osture and manner) and condition of the bird are also important factors. The scale of points for the peach-faced lovebird is as follows:
Size 15
Conformation 45
Head 15
Body 15
Wings and Tail 10
Feet 5
Color 15
Condition 15
Deportment 10
