Fat-Free Foods
Fat-free foods have fat taken out and sometimes replaced by fat replacers.
Some fat replacers, such as those used in fat-free salad dressings, contain carbohydrates and can affect your blood-sugar level.
Also, many fat-free foods have sugar added for taste, and this will affect your blood-sugar level. If your weight and blood lipids are in a healthy range, you don't need fat-free foods.
If your goal is to lower blood lipids and lose weight, moderate portions of some fat-free foods may help you.
Read the Nutrition Facts on food labels to get the serving size, calories, and carbohydrate content to help you decide how fat-free foods fit into your meal plan.
